Comments from my reading diary, February 1995: Heroine and young brother are on way to titled
father's place so that they don't starve. The boy is his bastard, and the heroine unrelated. The hero
inherited from the evil father who died. Before the hero and heroine discover they are "related," they
kiss at an inn. Love blooms as they all stay at the house; tenants and estate management also
involved.

Comments from my reading diary, May 1999:
This novel blends regency romance and with a reincarnation plot. All of the main
characters have been reborn from a past life together that ended in general tragedy.
However for the bulk of the novel, only the heroine is conscious of her past life and
believes in such experiences. Surprisingly little of the entire book is taken up with the
past-lives plot, so the book can be enjoyed for its other aspects until the ending of the
novel which deals with unfolding the past to all the characters. The heroine's character is
very sweet, and her bringing of happiness to all but the evil character is enjoyable. The
heroine's misunderstanding of sex and her fear of it is played for humor, as is the hero's
sexual frustration.

May 1999: This novel seemed to go on too long for me. The basic appeal of the
novel was combining the thrill and innocence of first love with silly, farcical
humor. Unfortunately once the heroine and hero fall in love and have sex, the
plot goes wild to try to keep going for another hundred pages or so. Then we
get a lesson on superstition vs. logic, as well as magic charms, gratuitous
sex, gypsies, irrational decisions, and overwrought, improbable villains to
keep the plot going. Still the charm of the early part of the novel can carry
you through most of the rest, at least for one read.
