Left: Promenade Dress with Pelisse. The pelisse is dark-violet velvet with French cuffs. The shawl is cashmere and is cream with pink and yellow rows of designs upon it. The muff is ermine. The collar is a lace ruff. The bonnet is violet velvet lined with white satin and trimmed with violet-colored ostrich plumes.
Right:Court Dress. White ostrich plumes drape over a diamond bandeau over this gold and white court dress. The gold satin robe is trimmed with gold shells. The white satin petticoat has white lace over it and rows of folds in the satin rimmed with gold cord.
Morning Dress. This is another of my favorite dress, one I particularly covet and can imagine how wonderful it would feel. The entire dress is made of pale pink cashmere. Imagine the cost of such a dress today, when a simple sweater of cashmere can cost hundreds of dollars! The dress wraps around the body and ties with matching bows. The cap is a cornette of lace and net and ties with a matching pink ribbon. The lady sits drinking her morning coffee or tea, in no doubt, the most comfortable dress she owns.
Promenade Dress. This dress can be seen in color in Moore's Gallery of Fashion. Moore writes of the dress: "Green promenade pelisse of gros de Naples and a patent lace ruff with black satin bonnet ... A green promenade pelisse of gros de Naples with vandyked epaulettes and a patent lace ruff. Black satin bonnet with full plume and cerulean silk under the brim. A perfect illustration for the novels of Jane Austen" (12).
