| c. 1820 Handwoven Stole (Probably English)
Detail of beautiful regency hand-woven stole owned by Nancy L. Saputo. Nancy writes of the stole: "Ivory Silk, each end woven with an 8-inch border of red, blue, green and ochre pines, with a small row above; edged with a 7/8-inch border of flowers and leaves; short silk fringe. Dimensions: 19 inches x 93 inches." The beauty of this stole speaks for itself, making one instinctively want to wrap this around one's shoulders. | Of this image collector Nancy Saputo writes: "SHOWN ON: c. 1824-26 Day Dress of fine white cotton; bodice and long sleeves trimmed with 1/2-inch embroidered cotton lace. Lower skirt has 18 rows of tucks and three rows of lace insertion." |
