The reading that I do benefits my writing by giving me a better vocabulary, ideas about different tones to use,
and examples of different sentence structures. If I encounter a word I don't know, I like to try to use that word
in my writing to help expand my vocabulary (sometimes I find words such as "fungible" to avoid or to use when
I want to be pretentious or make fun of other's pretentiousness). By seeing how authors create moods by their
use of different words and structures, I can more easily create a funny, scary, silly, or serious mood in my
writingby imitating what I have read.
